We all want gorgeous, perfectly healthy hair and go to great lengths to get it but there could be a MAJOR haircare step you’re missing out on.

It’s no secret that you have to work hard to have fantastic hair unless you’re one of those bitches who naturally has perfect hair if so, I hate you.

You probably already take hair vitamins, get regular trims, avoid heat damage, and do plenty of deep conditioning treatments, but there’s one step I guarantee you’re missing out on.

So, what’s this MAJOR haircare step you’re skipping?

Exfoliating.

I know, you’re probably, like say what, exfoliating your hair?!?

Well, yes and no. It’s more like exfoliating your scalp.

A healthy scalp means healthy hair – you can’t have one without the other.

Exfoliating your scalp removes product buildup and is great at combating dryness.

However, just like when it comes to exfoliating your face or body, you don’t want to overdo it.

If you have oily hair, you can use a scalp exfoliator 2 -3 times a week, but if not don’t use an exfoliator more than once a week.  Just like your skin, your scalp can be stripped of its natural oil which wreaks havoc on your hair.

While chemical exfoliants that act as a peel for your scalp are one option, I prefer grainier physical scrubs.

My favorite hair scrub is Big Shampoo by Lush.

Big is freaking amazing – it’s full of natural ingredients that not only exfoliate dead cells from your scalp but also gives your hair loads of volume while adding nourishment and shine. Plus, it smells incredible and contains sea salt, coconut oil, and fresh citrus juices. #jackpot

So, if you want the best hair of your life, start exfoliating your scalp!
