darling duos

What would Serena be without Blair or what would Chocolate be without peanut butter? All four things are pretty fabulous on their own but when they’re together it makes things even better. This is how I feel about my favorite duo of the moment – YSL Volume Effet Faux Cils Shocking Mascara and Bare Minerals Lash Domination.

I’ve been using each mascara separately for some time now and for each mascara it was love at first swipe. Both the YSL and Bare Minerals mascaras are volumizing formulas but they leave you with very different results.

The YSL Shocking is a mascara that’s touted to “exaggerate lashes with excess volume from every angle” and it lives up to that claim perfectly.  I’m given defined eyelashes with loads of volume and not a trace of spider lashes anywhere in sight.

Lash Domination by Bare Minerals is labeled the do it all mascara, that will lengthen, volumize, separate, and thicken your lashes with its long wear formula. For me, this mascara definitely lengthens and separates with the slightest bit of volumizing and thickening. It doesn’t quite live up to its label of being a volumizing mascara but I still love it regardless.

Whenever choosing a mascara formulation I always go for volume as opposed to length since I have pretty long lashes. My goal when trying mascaras is to find one that makes it look like I’m wearing false lashes without all the hassle of actually having to apply false lashes daily.

One morning I had a brilliant idea, layer YSL Shocking and BM Lash Domination mascaras together! The result was the best lashes I’ve ever had the pleasure of having.

To get the best results, first I curl my lashes then layer two coats of the Bare Minerals Lash Domination followed immediately by one coat of the YSL Shocking mascara. With this combination you get the best of both mascaras. You’re left with thick lashes full of volume and definition with a little bit of length. For me this is the perfect combination for my lashes.

Conclusion, don’t be afraid to pair things up because sometimes you get an unstoppable combination that makes your life a little bit better :)

The YSL Shocking runs $30 at Sephora and Lash Domination by Bare Minerals will set you back $12.

Hey, no one said great lashes come cheap.
